Civic Meetings

The FPCA meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm (except for July and August). Meetings are held at the John J. Shea Bright Nights Building in Forest Park.

Have you seen the vibrant new mural that suddenly appeared on Lenox Street at the “X”? As you drive west on Sumner Avenue, your eye is drawn to the bright colors and images on your left. It’s yet another project installed by Common Wealth Murals (CWM) as part of the ongoing Portrait of a Graduate and Strategic Planning program that began five years ago.

Last summer, members of the FPCA Historic Committee began noticing the use of asphalt to patch sidewalks. We decided to walk the historic district to determine the extent of asphalt patching. We concluded that asphalt patching was “used everywhere” and that it was not in keeping with the desire to maintain an aesthetically pleasing and historically accurate neighborhood.

    Our year has again been full and successful, and this newsletter has lots of details about past and upcoming endeavors.

    We had a very successful Annual Meeting at the ECOS building. We elected our officers and Board for the 2024-2025 year, heard a wonderful presentation about the planned Forest Park Horticulture Learning Center by Mayor Dominick Sarno and PBRM Director Patrick Sullivan, celebrated individuals and businesses in our neighborhood, and enjoyed good food and good company.

  • Winter 2023

    Happy New Year! It has been great to see so many participants at our monthly meetings in our new home, the John J. Shea Bright Nights Building in Forest Park. This fall and winter, we had a very successful Halloween Party at the Garfield/Fairfield Triangle. The children, teens, and parents really got into the spirit with costumes, games, and wonderful sweet treats.

    The FPCA has had a busy few months. We have been asked to weigh in on multiple zoning variance situations and to help guide our community members with traffic, safety, and litter concerns.

    Last year was a challenging year, not just for the FPCA but for everyone in our community. We have had to forego many of our traditional celebrations due to COVID restrictions, and we were unable to meet in person for many, many months.
